Traceable Wool

FILIPPA K is proud to offer Traceable Wool, which means that a garment’s wool can be traced from farm to finish. Since 2023, we’ve worked to improve traceability in the wool industry and establish a transparent value chain.

In today’s wool industry, fibres are commonly traded in large batches on a global market. Traceability is often limited to just the country of origin and there is no guarantee or certification to ensure that the wool has been produced sustainably, and according to high animal welfare standards.

In 2023, more than one-third of the materials we worked with at FILIPPA K were animal fibres, so traceability from farm to garment is key for us in understanding their origins as well as environmental and social impacts. We’ve been working towards a Traceable Wool value chain since 2023, so that you can better understand the journey of your garments from the sheep’s wool to the piece hanging in your closet.

We work with likeminded partners around the world to improve traceability in the wool industry. From six South African farmers, who are Responsible Wool Standard-certified to a certain level of land management, social standards and animal welfare, to Tollegno 1900, an Italian yarn manufacturer with 125 years of history, our partners bring deep expertise, research, and innovation. Other partners we work with include our Italian yarn spinning partner Millefili and Lempriere, a scourer in Bulgaria.
