MEET THE DANCERS
To celebrate 10 years of Soft Sport we sat down with Madeline and Camille – ballet dancers at the Royal Swedish Opera – to talk about their love of dance, the importance of movement, and their favourite pieces.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT DANCE?
Madeline: My mom was a modern dancer, and she introduced me to the dance world before I could even walk. It’s all I’ve ever known, and I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else. In dance, I love being able to have artistic freedom. The process of taking a story or choreography and interpreting it in your own way is such a unique and introspective experience. It’s cathartic.
HOW DOES THE MOVEMENT IN DANCING MAKE YOU FEEL?
Camille: Dancing makes me feel free, unique, and aware. Sometimes vulnerable, sometimes powerful. It's like meditating – being very focused on the present so all the negativity is left aside. Moving your body will always have a positive impact, it gives the right energy to the body and the soul.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN AN ACTIVE WARDROBE?
Madeline: When I dance or work out I want to feel comfortable and confident. I look for clothes that are low maintenance but still make me feel good. It’s really difficult to choose what I loved most on set! But my favourite is the almond-coloured set consisting of the Reversed Stripe Short, Asymmetric Crop Top, Cropped Seamless Leggings, and Sweatshirt.
Camille: I like to dress based on my mood: very colourful mixing and matching, or more chic with all black, but it always has to be comfortable with nice materials. I like to feel beautiful and comfy. I fell in love with the Gloss Windbreaker Jacket, and I loved the Trumpet Legging that creates longer legs. The cashmere set is exquisite – definitely a must-have at home or at the barre.
