Inspiration with Camilla Larsson

Introducing our new series, inviting creative peers to put their unique touch on FILIPPA K by styling some of our key pieces. Together we’ll explore what fuels their imagination, diving into the intersections of fashion, art, design, architecture, and their day-to-day lives.

Kicking it off is Danish stylist and fashion visionary Camilla Larsson.

Camilla is 170cm tall, and wears a size 27 jeans, S tee and size 36 in the denim shirt. The shoes are her own.

A longtime collaborator and friend of FILIPPA K, Camilla is celebrated for her contributions to leading fashion publications, her effortlessly chic, minimalist-yet-sensual aesthetic, and her uncanny knack for reviving the iconic flair of the '90s.

Camilla spent the day with us curating her favourite looks, and sharing what inspires her.

Which FILIPPA K items did you choose for this project?

It’s always a bit different styling for work or styling myself. I need to feel at home in my clothes, and I often look to the menswear collections for inspiration. Without really trying, I chose trousers and outerwear as key items. That’s also what I prioritise in my own wardrobe. It has to be comfortable, and it has to have a practical angle to it. FILIPPA K has a lot of timeless items, and balancing men's and women's adds something to the silhouette.

How would you describe your personal style?

My personal style is a little tomboy-ish. I’m attracted to soft and comfortable materials, and classic pieces, which could be from vintage or new designers. When I go out I sometimes add a heel, and in summer I tend to wear skirts. Sporty, but still playful. Not too serious.

"The fun part of the shoot was that I really felt like myself in those pieces. I’m not normally in front of the camera, but the clothes actually made me relax because I knew I was wearing something I feel good in. It felt very much ‘me’."

Camilla wears our menswear Cotton Track Jacket in size S, the Baggy Cotton Trousers in 27, and the Oversized Tee in S.

Best fashion advice you’ve ever received?

If you feel good, you look good. Then you can actually get away with most looks, really. What lies in this advice is, don’t try to be something that you’re not. Fashion isn’t about being in something you’re not comfortable in, what you are is enough.

Where do you find inspiration in your professional life?

My eye gets attracted when something is original. I’m always searching for authenticity. I don't just look at trends and fashion shows, it’s wider than that. I look at people and interiors, finding authenticity in my surroundings. I’m also very much into the past, I just can’t let it go. Let’s say I need to find some images for a mood – I tend to look at the 80s, 90s, 70s, even back to the 1920s and 30s. I like to travel back in time, not because I’m very nostalgic, but because I’m attracted to previous fashion.

Camilla wears a size S tee and leggings, and size 36 shirt.

What’s your all-time favourite film?

When I have the choice, I’ll always pick an old movie. The Graduate is my favourite film. There are many more, but I always go back to the Graduate. The first time I watched it was with my mom in our living room when I lived at home. The music, the setting, the aesthetics, the story, the mom! The beautiful Katharine Ross. Anytime I can watch it, I will watch it.

What do you love about your neighbourhood in Copenhagen?

I live in an area called Frederiksburg, it's very green and has nice buildings which remind me a bit of Paris. What I really like about it is so many of its residents have lived here their whole lives – people in their 70s, 80s and 90s. It might be an actress or a writer from the 60s. They are so well-dressed, in the kinds of clothes you can’t really buy anymore. It’s inspiring meeting these people on the way to getting your groceries. They’re important to the area, and they carry themselves with a stoic pride.

Best thing you’ve learned through your career so far?

Never rely on routines. Working in a creative field, we have to let go of our comfort zones. Fashion changes all the time, and you have to mirror the time as it is right now, otherwise it becomes uninteresting.

"There's the saying, ‘it's only fashion’. It echoes in my mind all the time I work. I think it's because when fashion gets too serious, it tends to lose its magic and attraction to me. In other words, you need to have fun while doing it, otherwise it will fall apart."

Camilla wears our Long T-shirt Dress in 36. The bag will arrive in the AW25 Pre Collection, and the shoes are her own.

"What makes my own wardrobe easy is that I don’t renew it that much, but I have key pieces I go back to and then sort of freshen up my seasonal style."
