Inspiration with Saskia Neuman

How would you describe your personal style? ?



I love good tailoring: a great suit, really good quality fabric and clothes that last. I rarely shop, when I do I rather buy one or two pieces that I know will last a very long time. A great white or pinstriped shirt, preferably oversized, or a silk blouse… essentially I have a very close relationship with my dry-cleaner. If I’m feeling adventurous I’ll wear a more out there colourful dress or skirt, or one of my mother’s Armani pieces from the late 1980s or early '90s, but mostly I stick to neutral tones and lots of black (I’m gallerist). I don’t even know how many black suit jackets I own.

What inspires you in your work? 

I am incredibly lucky; I work with what I love. The artists that I have the opportunity to work and interact with on a daily basis are truly inspiring. Inspiration also comes from putting on new exhibitions at the gallery, participating in art fairs, looking at colleagues' galleries, and meeting new people.

What were your favorite FILIPPA K pieces to wear during this project? 



The Half Placket Blouse in this deep burgundy color, the Dionne Flare Trousers and the Cocoon Coat in black — these clothes made me feel elegant and the look felt effortless but dressed. 

What do you always keep in your handbag? 

My phone, my wallet (which is always bursting with random bits of paper and old receipts), my daughter's hair ties and the latest bracelets she’s made from plastic beads or something along those lines, big bunch of keys, and lip balm. 

What are you currently reading/watching? 

I’m reading two books, Umberto Eco’s The Prague Cemetery--my friend Aleks recently gave me the book, and Dani Shapiro’s Inheritance. I'm watching this new limited series Hostage on Netflix, several British crime series on SVT Play and YouTube clips of the late American comedians Joan Rivers and Don Rickles' appearances on Jonny Carson’s The Tonight Show from the 1960s and '70s.
