Zürich

second concept store in Switzerland

PRESS Filippa K continues its Swiss expansion with the opening of a second Filippa K concept store in the prestigious area around Schweizergasse in Zurich.

Following the success of the first Filippa K concept store in Zurich’s Sihlcity, Filippa K now launches a unique new concept store on Schweizergasse. The second store will now open located just a block from the legendary shopping avenue Bahnhofstrasse and next door to the classic department store Globus in the heart of Zurich’s most prestigious shopping area. The new concept store will carry a wide selection of men’s and women’s collections as well as the accessories line from Filippa K - known for a distinct Scandinavian design style that combines minimal urban elegance with high fashion.

“This is the perfect location for us so we’re incredibly happy and proud to open our second concept store in Switzerland on such classic ground”, says Jan Carl Adelswärd, CEO.

Designed by longtime Filippa K architects Aaro Arkitekter, the 90 m2 space is characterised by a stylish fusion of simple geometric forms and sensual natural materials, creating a light, serene ambience of style, simplicity and quality. With floors of diamond milled Swedish limestone, black rubber and wool carpet, the space playfully mixes modern elements such as Corian and Plexiglass with the warm presence of classic elmwood veneer.

Switzerland is an increasingly important market for Filippa K and the company plans to further continue its Swiss expansion.

“Switzerland has quickly become an important growth market for us and we want to continue to invest here. The store on Schweizergasse is a natural follow up on our success in Sihlcity”, says Jan Carl Adelswärd, CEO.

The new store opens to the public on Schweizergasse 10 today, followed by an exclusive opening event tonight for a select group of guests from the Zurich fashion, media, music and art scene.

Fashion Show

at the Royal Swedish Opera

PRESS Filippa K showed its upcoming fall/winter 2008 collection yesterday in the magnificent Golden Foyer at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm - a contrast-rich setting for the new collection’s stylish blend of classic elegance and urban 70’s punk. The fashion show also marked the starting point for a partnership between Filippa K and the Royal Swedish Opera.

The new collection’s playful combination of urban youth and timeless elegance was reflected in the contrast between a modern fashion show and the legendary Golden Foyer of the Royal Swedish Opera. 20 models, styled by Robert Rydberg, showcased the new collection to a select group of guests and members of the international fashion press.

“This is a very exciting collection for us, influenced by early seventies England and full of funky contrasts between early punk and classic English refinement, with a dash of humor and sense of not taking yourself too seriously. Imagine a stylish young Lord or Lady in the early seventies who’s gone totally punk.” said Rasmus Wingårdh, Creative Manager.

Fall/Winter 2008

unveiled at the Royal Swedish Opera’s Golden Foyer

PRESS Fashion label Filippa K yesterday showed its upcoming fall/winter 2008 collection in the magnificent Golden Foyer at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm - a contrast-rich setting for the new collection’s stylish blend of classic elegance and urban 70’s punk.

This is a very exciting collection for us, influenced by early seventies England and full of funky contrasts between early punk and classic English refinement, with a dash of humor and sense of not taking yourself too seriously. Imagine a stylish young Lord or Lady in the early seventies who’s gone totally punk.” said Rasmus Wingårdh, Creative Manager.

Inspired by Velvet Underground’s singer Nico, the Filippa K Woman collection is a style conscious fusion of masculine and feminine elements, letting rebellious punk meet girlish sensuality in the clean, simple design language we associate with Filippa K Woman.

The theme for the Filippa K Man collection is rough elegance. Mixing the classic English with the early days of punk, in its subtler “The Clash” variation with slim fits and playful mix of patterns, rather than hardcore safety pins and shiny studs. All brought together by the marquee sense of Filippa K simplicity.

The use of the Golden Foyer as the location for the fashion show also launched a long-term partnership with Filippa K as the Official Partner to the Royal Swedish Opera during 2008.

The partnership between Filippa K and the Opera clearly symbolises what Filippa K stands for – the exciting meeting between the modern and the timeless. The Golden Foyer was the perfect place to show this new collection, which is an exciting re-interpretation of our core values style, simplicity and quality.” said Jan Carl Adelswärd, CEO.

PRESS Filippa K is launching a unique concept store in Brussels, its third store in Belgium. The new store will offer the full range of Filippa K women’s and men’s fashion, shoes and accessories. With more stores planned for the future, Filippa K continues its expansion in Belgium and Europe.

Following two successful Filippa K concept stores in Antwerp, Filippa K now opens a unique new concept store on Rue Antoine Dansaertstraat 40-42, one of Brussels’ most happening streets. The new store will carry the entire product range from Filippa K - known for a distinct Scandinavian design style that combines minimal urban elegance with high fashion. “We’re thrilled to open this new concept store in such a perfect location in Brussels.

“Belgium is one of the most exciting fashion scenes in Europe and one of our fastest growing markets. We see great opportunities for Filippa K in Belgium and will continue to invest here, probably opening yet another two or three stores in the near future.” says Jan Carl Adelswärd, CEO.

Carefully designed by Aaro Arkitekter, the unusual architecture of the 250 m2 store compellingly reflects the marquee Filippa K design principles of ”timeless simplicity with contemporary edge”. There is a playful urban roughness to the space that has been juxtaposed with clean, calm interiors to create a unique atmosphere of style, simplicity and quality.

The store’s unique outline is a 40 meters long sequence of rooms with varying shapes and light designs. From the entrance on the street, the store runs like a river across two backyards all the way to another building across the yard. Inside, there is a tranquil ambience of minimalistic elegance with generous skylights, subdued white walls and natural materials.

The new store will have an exclusive grand opening tonight for some 300 specially selected guests from the Brussels fashion, media, music and art scene.
