second hand store

Moa Dahlin, Filippa K Second Hand
On a busy street in the middle of Stockholm Filippa K opened a unique second hand store last year. There, in the light and airy turn-of-the-century space everyday customers can find Filippa K from past seasons and even sell their own old FIlippa K clothes if they choose to. Here’s a short conversation we had with Ms Moa Dahlin, store manager.
Name:
Moa Dahlin
Occupation:
Store manager at the Filippa K Second hand store
What does the coming year hold for you?
I’m gonna try and make the Filippa K Second hand store as good as it can possibly be.
Who are your style icons?
I don’t really have any. I actually think my boss dresses very nice.
How is your relationship to Filippa K?
I wore it a lot when I was younger but then I had a period when I used to only wear second hand from the 60’s and 70´s. But now Filippa K’s back in my life again and I love it!
Now you and Filippa K have a secondhand store, what was your vision when you initially starting thinking about opening the store?
I think it’s a great initiative from Filippa K to open this store, it’s a good way of making the most of the products you make and I wouldn’t be surprised if other brands will follow in our footsteps.
How does it work when you want to submit clothes to the store?
You bring your clothes to the store, we pick out the stuff we think we can sell and then we give you a price that you’ll get if we do. We keep the clothes for a month, so they have to be in season when you hand them in.
Are there any particular items you remember from earlier days, that you would like to have in the store?
I especially like Filippa K’s coats and jackets, since they’re so timeless. I don’t think I’ve ever turned one down.
Do you think fashion can make a difference in the environment discussion?
I think that people are becoming more aware of where clothes come from and that second hand-shopping is a good way to use what we already have instead of constantly making more.

artistic minimalism and dedication to architecture
Located in the heart of the city at 66 Kearny Street, the new store is the 42nd Filippa K store to open worldwide.
Designed by Aaro Arkitekter along with founder and creative director Filippa Knutsson. Filippa K’s San Francisco location is the first store to be built in a new, revised store concept inspired by the brand’s core values of artistic minimalism and dedication to architecture. Adjacent to Maiden Lane, one of the city’s stylish shopping district areas, the 2,000 square foot space transforms a former bank with lofty ceilings into a relaxing, calm atmosphere that exudes a warm sense of understated style.
“We have been looking at the US market for a long time and are excited to start the US expansion in San Francisco since the city has so many coherent values with those of Filippa K. I have been very involved in the creation of the new concept which very much represents my personal taste in architecture, art and interior design.” says Filippa Knutsson, Creative Director.
More images and updates will come.
continued expansion in The Netherlands
PRESS Filippa K is please to announce the opening of its fourth concept store in The Netherlands on Plaats 17 in The Hague. Located in the city square the store will be the 41st Filippa K store to open worldwide.
The store is designed by long-time architectural partner Aaro Arkitekter and located in a traditionally Dutch stone house with gable towards the city square. The architectural idea is based around material contrast and modern room interiors. A narrow entrance room completely covered in thin bamboo leads in to a light more complex and abstract world where the Scandinavian simplicity of the brand is fully displayed.
The men’s and women’s departments placed on each side of the store, stretch into the 190 square-meter store where a coffee bar has been placed centrally.
”We are pleased to further deepen our collaboration with our Dutch partners by opening this store in the Hague. We strongly believe in this type of collaboration as a way of expanding and will continue to grow this way” – says Patrik Kihlborg, CEO.
The store will carry a full range of the women’s and men’s collection as well as the shoe, bag and accessory line from Filippa K, a brand known for its coherent design philosophy of style, simplicity and quality.
The store is set to open in September with an exclusive opening event on Saturday, 27th of September 2008.
