Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. When Filippa K was asked by Swedish department store Nordiska Kompaniet to be part of the project NK Couture the choice was easy – the grand finale of all couture shows – the wedding dress.

As expected from Filippa K, the wedding dress is the epitome of effortless luxury as well as craftsmanship. The effectful elegant fan pleats inspired by wedding bells, together with the sleeveless top with its sensually cut back is a timeless statement for brides of today as well as for generations to come.

Filippa K:s wedding dress is influenced by creative director Filippa Knutsson’s fascination for Paris fashion of the 1930’s and the designers Coco Chanel and Madeleine Vionnet. Both designers created flattering clothes to suit a modern woman and her adjoining lifestyle– feminine and gracious yet comfortable.

”Their fashion sense is much in line with Filippa K:s vision and they designed pieces for a strong independant woman” says Filippa Knutsson.

From Vionnet comes the tailoring technique of the bias cut, to create a soft flowing slim and elegant silhouette.  Whereas the unconventional choice of fabric, an exclusive creme white silk viscose jersey, as well as the the handknotted pearl bolero, a mix of a garment and a piece of jewellery and made of vintage pearls, clearly flirts with Chanel.

”The vintage pearls are old, the dress is the new, the blue is hidden as a secret detail and the borrowed one has to sort out on one’s own”, says Filippa Knutsson.
