Filippa Knutsson
What inspires you?
To observe everyday life and real people “on the streets”. I’m also inspired by my own need and desires of course.
What was your vision for Filippa K when you originally founded the brand?
My vision for Filippa K has always been to offer modern clothes that last over time both style and quality wise.
What motivates you as a designer?
To create, renew and develop. It is a constant challenge to interpret trends in a Filippa K way and convert them into wearable attractive garments.
What motivates you as an entrepreneur?
Something that has always motivated me has been the challenge to build a company and a brand that stands for clear and concise values.
What part of Filippa K has been the most fun for you?
Ever since the beginning it has always been working with a big team of competent, interesting and lovely people.
What are you the most proud of with Filippa K?
That I have succeeded in creating a brand that has a clear identity and at the same time is a growing and profitable company.
How would you describe the Fall collection?
Classic but with ethnic and sensual elements for women and British manor houses for men.
What are your favourites pieces from the fall collection?
For women: Sasha Wrap Coat, a collar-less coat in grey melange wool, a thin belt at the waist and pleats in the back Twill Nomad pants, black pants with a harem cut that feel ethnic in a modern way Cashmere Long Pullover, a slightly longer, simple and comfortable cashmere sweater!
For men: Christian Cord jacket, a cord jacket with arm-patches and the Bohemian Stripe Pullover, a mohair sweater with a shawl collar.
How would you describe the shoe collection?
On the women’s side it’s feminine and classic with little twists such as a detail or a special shape of the heel. We focused on short ankle boots and knee boots for women, a feminine and cool feeling together with dresses and slim pants.
For men the collection is classic with a British undertone, chunkier soles, brogues details and boots.
Which shoes from the collection are your personal favourites?
I really like the Joline Laced Ankle boots that are a combination of leather and suede with front lacing, they are nice with all dresses, skirts and pants.
What do you think everyone should have in their closet?
For women: A pair of slim black pants, a thin and pliable black jersey top,a white t-shirt, a fine knit merino cardigan and the little black dress.
For men: A nice slim black suit, a pair of well fitting jeans, a white shirt and the perfect white tee.
What accessory do you think everyone should own?
For women: a functional but feminine handbag that you can fit most things in, including your laptop.
For Men: A modern smart computer bag.
What kind of shoes do you think everyone should own?
For women: Black high heeled ankle boots.
For men: Black modern dress shoes.

A day at the office
What’s a regular day like for you?
I get up at 06.30, and go for a 20 minute walk with my MBT shoes (when I have the energy that is!). I then cook breakfast for myself and my kids, drive my youngest boy Dylan to school, go to work at around 09.00 and then it’s meetings, meetings and more meetings with the design team regarding all the different parts of the collection, with our Marketing Director about artwork, strategies and so on and with our CEO about the company as a whole. It’s hectic all day, usually I have a really quick lunch at my desk. I’m home by six, cook dinner for the kids and hang out. Later in the evening I check my e-mails, and after that if I’m lucky enough to still have the time, I watch a DVD with an episode of what ever series I’m watching at the time (there’s always one!) – that really relaxes me. Before I go o sleep I call my boyfriend in Paris and talk about all the little and big things in life.
