Collection

Fall/Winter 2008

The cold season always offer something special. The opportunity to play with layers and richer colours tend to bring out and entice your fashion sense whilst facing the obvious restrictions of weather conditions which demand a certain wear-ability and function. While challenging, tis’ really is the season to be jolly, but forget over the top naive glitz, for fall/winter 08 Filippa K presents a collection filled with attitude and relaxed British coolness. Our muses and icons have been the ever relevant Nico from Velvet Underground and Joe Strummer from The Clash.

Women’s Collection

Early 70s punk with its streaks of girlishness, combined with pure rebelliousness, captures the essence of this collection.

It’s about the ‘punk within’ combined with the simplicity of Filippa K. The essence of cool and stylish lead singer of Velvet Underground, Nico.

We have focused on feminine details and expressions such as pointed shoulders, a narrow waist and shawl collars both for outerwear, jersey and knitwear. Leather details and strong print effects, combined with a skinny pant silhouette creates a rebellious touch. The ‘Halston look’ in jersey, with full length dresses, draped effects and deep cut necklines is also an important look for the season. Colourful tweeds are combined with shiny-matte effects in wovens, as well as melange yarns in knits. Central items of the collection are suit jackets, one tailored fit and a more edgy version with pointy shoulders, and under the knee, high waisted skirts. Shoes are super feminine and high heeled with a contrast in the cool M.C boot.

Collection colours are a mix of bright orange-red and strong turquoise and softer pastel hues: lollipop pink and shimmery light grey. A dark wine colour sets a base together with browns and beige.

Men’s Collection

Our inspiration comes from the early years of The Clash and their “Ska” approach to punk with Joe Strummer as an iconic person. This is contrasted by an abstract view on something very British and classic but done in a new, young and rebellious way.

The silhouette of the suit is slim and there is a strong presence of classic tailoring, done in a playful mix of different subtle patterns: tweeds, herringbones and fine stripes. Velvets and cords in rich colours are also present for a more relaxed look. The higher waist of the slacks and the focus on the slim waist and accentuated shoulders of the jacket is important for the season. For outerwear the contemporary look of the tweed coat, with its slight a-line shape and clean finish is complemented by a range of wool Melton coats and jackets. Jackets being boxy and short, sometimes with a heavy rib collar to further enhance the masculine feel. The punk inspiration is visible in the tartan patterns of the shirts and accessories, all done in the clean and simple way of Filippa K.

Colours this season are focused on a range of reds, yellow, dirty pink and deep blue for accents. All present in different patterns as well as solid blocks of strong colour, especially in jersey and knitwear. The base is a mellow scale of sandy beige, dark grey and brown.
